Finding your light in the darkest moments

My clients struggle just like you do. Despite being smart, kind and goal-oriented, life is hard.
When they first come in, they are often tired from staying up all night worrying about something coming up later in the week.
Their bodies felt so badly from pain or feeling sick, that they could not get comfortable enough to sleep.

Having Trouble Finding a Mental Health Balance?

You’re Not Alone. And I’m Here to Help!

Some patients sometimes are afraid at home, work, or school, making it hard to get through the day.
They assume the worst in themselves because their goals are going unaccomplished and their bodies struggle to meet the demands of daily life. Their cluttered thoughts get in the way of the life that they want in so many ways. They aren’t the kind of student, family member or employee that they want to be. They feel like they are failing in their social lives. And their confidence in themselves is tanking.
Many of them live through every day as if they are wearing a mask. The mask covers how they feel: physical pain from worry or another illness, the need to make everyone else happy while they suffer alone, disconnected from others, and oftentimes feeling misunderstood and hopeless.

How I can Help

Hi! I’m Alicia M. Dorn, LCPC – Founder and Therapist of Adorned with Life, LLC.
Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor specializing in child, teen and young adult anxiety, depression and chronic illnesses.
Specially trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches.

Children (5-12)

Children may have difficulties understanding and communicating their feelings with others close with them.

Teens (13-17)

Teenagers often experience challenges with personal identity, learning themselves through interactions with peers and close friendships.

Young Adults (18-40)

Young Adults are in a stage of their lives when they are learning how to manage the stresses of life as an adult, making important decisions that will transform their lives.

I offer secure online therapy for individuals, families and groups.

Before patients came to see me, they were concerned that they would say or do the “wrong” things. They worried that I would see them as a “crazy” person. There were concerns that their bodies felt too tired or in pain to truly give their best. And they were pretty certain that they would have a meltdown by the end of the session. These worries have talked them out of getting the help they deserve.

The fear around that can feel overwhelming. Getting the counseling we need can be challenging. And although it’s normal to be nervous, that doesn’t make it feel great. It takes courage to continue getting the help you need.

How do I know if my therapist is the right one for me?

Take your time to read through this website. If you sense that we may be a good fit based on what you are reading, you can call us.

During a free phone consultation, you can ask one of our therapists about how they have helped other people like you before, ask how they work as a therapist, or any other questions you may have that are specific-to-you. You’ll also be able to tell them what’s up, and you and one of our therapists can decide together how they can help.

It will usually take a couple of sessions to feel comfortable and develop a relationship. During the sessions, you’ll be able to understand how comfortable you feel in sessions. Our approach is not going to work for everyone. What’s most important is that you find someone who you feel is the right fit for you. We can explore that together.
